Riverwalk Counseling Center today announced it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Behavioral Health Care Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards.

Riverwalk Counseling Center underwent an onsite survey on December 6th & 7th, 2017. During the review, compliance with behavioral health care standards related to several areas, including care, treatment, and services; environment of care; leadership; and screening procedures for the early detection of imminent harm were evaluated. Onsite observations and interviews were also conducted.

On February 12, 2018, the Women’s Intensive Outpatient Program will open at Riverwalk Counseling Center. “We know men and women may have a different path to substance use issues and need different treatment,” she said, “issues with self-esteem, guilt & shame, body image and self-care are unique. Women are acculturated in a certain way that may reinforce this problem. As our society’s views toward women are changing, understanding their recovery needs to change as well.”

The Intensive Outpatient Program is six (6) weeks, meeting three (3) days per week from 9 am to 12:30 PM.
