Skijoring Expands To Three Days, FMX Freestyle Snowmobile Returns & Adds Slopestyle Ski/Snowboard Expo.
BIG SKY, MT, January 24, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Big Sky Skijoring Association (BSSJ) is thrilled to announce the 7th Annual Best in the West Showdown, set to take place from February 7 to 9, 2025, at the Big Sky Town Center. This year’s event has expanded to three days, promising even more excitement and competition for participants and spectators alike.
Skijoring, a dynamic winter sport that combines skiing/snowboarding and horseback riding, has deep roots in Montana’s winter culture. The Best in the West Showdown has become a premier event in the skijoring circuit, pushing the envelope of competitive skijoring by pairing cutting edge course design with showmanship and elements of mountain culture never seen before. This eclectic combination now attracts the top teams from across North America. Last year’s event drew over 150 teams and 4,000 spectators, showcasing thrilling races and impressive athleticism through the berms, jumps and flames Big Sky Skijoring has become famous for.

This year’s event will feature 154 skijoring teams competing for a share of the $15,000 prize purse. In addition to the races, attendees can look forward to thrilling freestyle snowmobile/ski/snowboard exhibitions during intermissions (including the renowned Keith Sayers FMX snowmobile team, the Entourage ski crew and guest appearances by select professional snowboarders/skiers). The comfortable vendor village overlooking the racecourse will feature firepits, local food and beverage vendors, select western and ski retail brands, and more! Awards, live music and after party will be held at Tips Up.
